The Lions are coming off of a big win last week, but now have to travel to play undefeated Parkway Central in the Colts' homecoming game.

Friday Night Lights: University City (1-2) at Parkway Central (3-0)

University City went just 1-9 in the 2010 season, but already earned its first win of this year .

The Lions will visit Parkway Central on Friday night at 7 p.m. in a Suburban South Conference game.

Senior quarterback DeAndre Williams had a breakout performance for the Lions, passing for 339 yards and three touchdowns, along with a touchdown run as U. City held off the visiting Vikings in a thrilling early evening game.

Williams’ favorite passing targets are Alex Henry and Mario Wallace, a pair of dynamic seniors that make a lot of plays for the Lions offense.

Wallace leads the Suburban South in average yards per catch, while Henry leads the league in catches and total receiving yards.

Defensively, U. City is led by 6-foot-2, 215-pound senior linebackers Damonte Smith and Shaun Cody.

Meanwhile, it’s homecoming week at Parkway Central High School, and the Colts and their fans are geeked up for the big game.

The Colts come into the matchup at Parkway Central Football Stadium with a 3-0 record, and are ranked No. 6 in this week’s statewide poll. They claimed their second-straight 42-0 win of the season last week ( and ).

Senior quarterback Cole Gorman was the big star for Central on offense last week, passing for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore defensive end Jonathan Bonner led the defense with seven tackles and two quarterback sacks.

But the marquee name for the Colts all season has been star wide receiver and top college recruit, Brandon Sheperd.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect is being recruited by nearly every school in the Big 12, and recently narrowed his college choices to either the University of Missouri or Oklahoma State University. Though Sheperd had just two catches last week, both went for touchdowns as Central jumped on Northwest quickly.

For the season, Sheperd is second in the Suburban South in receiving yards with 265, and third in the entire St. Louis area with 10 touchdowns.

Fans of both teams can visit Patch.com late Friday night and Saturday for full coverage of the matchup between U. City and Parkway Central.
