Wash U: Delmar Loop Garage Digging Finishing Soon

The digging of the garage for the Delmar Loop project could be done by the end of the month, weather permitting.

Work on Washington University's $80 million development in the Delmar Loop has progressed steadily since ground was first broken in February. Now, the digging for the garage is nearly complete.

Cheryl Adelstein, Wash U's Director of Community Relations and Local Government Affairs, told the Loop Special Business District that the excavationfor the garage should be done by the end of the month, weather permitting.

She added that if things stay on schedule, a roof could be up on the garage by the end of July.

Adelstein also provided some other updates via a memo to the city. They include:

  • Fence and Barriers — Now that the municipal transformer has been relocated, Paric will move the remaining alley fence to the alley property limits. They will also install the plywood barrier along the fence line.
  • Construction: Steel erection continues for the Delmar Building. In the coming weeks the building construction will continue vertically with the installation of exterior and interior prefabricated metal panels and concrete decks will be poured.
  • Dust and Dirt Control: Paric will periodically sweep the alley and wash the streets surrounding the project. Water trucks will generally be working early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
