University City High School Releases Fall Athletic Schedule

The  athletics department recently marked the official start of its 2011-12 sporting year by releasing its 2011 varsity and junior varsity football schedules.

In 2011, the Lions varsity will play a 10-game schedule, with five home games, while the junior varsity will play nine total games, with four of them at home.

Both teams will open the season with the same opponent, Parkway West High School, but will start on different dates and play at opposite locations.

The Lions will play at the Preseason Jamboree at CBC on Aug. 20, before beginning actual game action. 

The varsity will begin play on Friday, Aug. 26, with a 4:15 p.m. home game against Parkway West, while the JV will play Parkway West on Monday, Aug. 29 at 4:15 p.m.

Practice for fall sports began on August 8. Student-athletes should confirm practice locations and times with their individual coach, as times/locations are subject to change. 

• Football - 8 to 10 a.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Heman park
• Field Hockey - 7:30 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. (August 13 practice is 9 to 11 a.m.)
• Softball - 8:30 to 10 a.m.
• Boys Swimming - 8:30 to 10 a.m.
• Volleyball - 9 a.m. to Noon
• Boys Soccer - 6 to 8 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
• Cross Country - 8:30 - 10:30 a.m., Heman Park
• Tennis- pending
