UCHS Science Teacher Receives Excellence in Teaching Award

Cassandra Conner, as well as the nearly 100 other recipients will be honored during a reception next month.

University City High School science teacher Cassandra Conner continues to wrack up the accolades.

Not only was she chosen , she's now been named a recipient of a 2011 Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award.

Connor joins nearly 100 St. Louis educators who are being honored for their commitment to students and their achievements in the classroom. The educators were individually selected by their school administrations.

Peter Kastor, Associate Professor of History in Arts & Sciences at Washington University also won an Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award.

The awards will be presented Sunday, November 13, 2011, during a ceremony and reception at The Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis’s Grand Center Arts District. Conner and Kastor will receive crystal apples made by Tiffany. They'll also be eligible to apply for a Gold Star Grant from Emerson. The grants are for non-school funded devices, technology and related services -- technology, innovation and leadership. They'll be presented in Spring 2012.

The Excellence in Teaching Awards program, now in its 23rd year, is sponsored annually by St. Louis-based Emerson.
