Smash: Make a Musical to Be Performed Tonight

Guys and Dolls Jr is being performed by students at Brittany Woods Middle School,

Students at  will perform Guys and Dolls Jr. on May 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and on May 5 at 2 p.m. in the Little Theater at Brittany Woods Middle School.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any cast member or through the Brittany Woods Middle School office. 

Brittany Woods is one of 20 schools nationwide to be selected to participate in NBC’s SMASH Make a Musical Project. The program provides a free Broadway Junior ShowKit with rights to perform a musical, two master classes with teachers from iTheatrics New York, a local project advisor, stipends for two teachers to direct the musical, and a technical theater fund.

“From the very beginning when they worked with the iTheatrics staff in February, a palpable energy was released,” said Wu Bakeman, Brittany Woods teacher and musical director for the show. “It's as if the students were waiting for something exactly like this to come along—something energizing which gives them a chance to express themselves.”
