U City School District Enrollment and Supply List Information

That frown on your kid's face might mean the sun is setting on summer vacation. Schools will open their doors again for a new year soon, and both parents and students will need all the information available to help plan for the school year.

The University City School District has listed information to help prep for the 2011-12 school year.

The first day of school is Monday, August 29 for all students except freshmen at University City High School, who will start on Friday, August 26.

Enrolling Your Child
New students to the District and any student changing schools for any reason must enroll or re-enroll with the District. Click here for the enrollment form.

Elementary school offices are open for enrollment Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to Noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Parents wishing to enroll or re-enroll at the middle school or high school should call the registrar at the respective school to make an enrollment appointment.

Re-enrollment requires verifying student information and supplying proof of residence.

Documents Required at Enrollment
When enrolling your child, bring the following documentation with you: 

  • Child's original Birth Certificate (original, if not on file)
  • Immunization Record (complete from infancy required by State; original, if not on file)
  • Parent photo identification (driver's license or employment photo identification badge)
  • Proof of Guardianship (if other than custodial parent)
  • Updated University City Occupancy Permit (Contact University City City Hall at 314-505-8500 for more information.)
  • PLUS, two of the following:
    • Current unpaid utility bill (electric, gas, water, trash, sewer, phone, not cell phone)
    • Voter registration card
    • Current lease
    • Property deed
    • Real estate tax receipt (current year)
    • Personal property tax receipt (current year)
    • Receipt or payment stub from rent check (previous month)
    • Paycheck stub identifying employee name and address (less than a month old)

Course Registration/Schedule Pick-Up Dates
All incoming middle and high school students must complete the enrollment verification process through the school registrar's office prior to attending a schedule pick-up and course registration day. 

  • Schedule pick-up for 6-8 graders at Brittany Woods (8125 Groby Road): Aug. 17 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Aug. 18 from 8 a.m. to Noon. 
  • Schedule pick-up for 9-12 graders at University City High School (7401 Balson Ave.): Aug. 10 and 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

U City Opts Out Of Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
University City will not be participating in Missouri's annual Back To School Sales Tax free holiday. City sales tax in these locations will still be collected on the sale of qualifying holiday items. However, shoppers can still receive the tax exemption on state and county sales taxes at businesses in those areas.Other nearby cities opting out include:

  1. Brentwood
  2. Bridgeton
  3. Charlack
  4. Clayton
  5. Frontenac
  6. Ladue
  7. Maplewood
  8. Richmond Heights
  9. St. Ann

Neighboring  is participating in this weekend's tax fee back-to-school holiday. Shoppers will save 4.225 percent in state sales tax on certain items. The  begins at midnight Friday, Aug. 5 and ends at midnight Sunday, Aug. 7.

Items eligible for the tax exemption include:

  • Clothing: an article of clothing can’t exceed $100;
  • School supplies: up to $50 per purchase;
  • Personal computers and peripheral devices: $3,500 or less;
  • Computer software: $350 or less.
