Residents Gather for Ceremonial Groundbreaking of New Pershing School Building

Formal groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday to mark the beginning of the construction process for the new Pershing Elementary School building.

The threat of rain did little to dampen the spirits of the people who turned out for the formal groundbreaking ceremony of the new Pershing Elementary School Friday evening.

The current building will be torn down and a new one built in its place. Construction is scheduled to begin shortly after the conclusion of the current school year and conclude in time for students to return to the building for the start of school in fall 2012.

"I'm so excited for our students and our teachers to come back to our new building," said Pershing Elementary Principal Herbert Buie.
