2013 UCHS Hall of Fame Nominations Due Friday

Do you know someone who should be in the Hall of Fame. If so, the School District of University City is seeking your nomination.

The University City High School Hall of Fame nomination period for 2013 ends at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25. Official nomination forms are available at www.ucityschools.org and should be mailed to the attention of the Hall of Fame Committee, University City High School,
 7401 Balson Ave. University City, MO 63130.

According to the school's web site, the district is soliciting nominations for inductees in all fields, including, but not limited to, business, science, medicine, research, athletics, literature and art. Nominees must have graduated from University City High School at least 10 years prior to nomination. 

The induction ceremony takes place the Friday of homecoming weekend (usually in October) of odd-numbered years.

The last induction ceremony was in 2011. Inductees included Christopher Krehmeyer, Class of 1980, president/CEO of Beyond Housing; Peter H. Martin, Class of 1987, professional jazz musician; and Harlan Steinbaum, Class of 1950, retired founder and CEO of Express Scripts, among others.

The UCHS Hall of Fame was established in 1999 as a way of recognizing alumni accomplishments. During its brief history, 101 UCHS graduates have already been inducted. Some of the past honorees include playwright Tennessee Williams, OASIS founder Marylen Mann, sculptor Saunders Schultz, Grammy Award winning rapper Cornell “Nelly” Haynes, Oakland A’s co-owner Lewis Nelson Wolff and philanthropist E. Desmond Lee.
