eARThworks 2012 gallery exhibition and art auction at the Regional Arts Commission
Mixed media gallery show featuring 60 contemporary artists and a one-night art auction presented by Missouri Coalition for the Environment, which works to protect and restore the natural world.
Sixty artists are participating in one of the biggest shows ever held at the Regional Arts Commission (RAC): eARThworks 2012: art for an endangered planet. The exhibition features artwork in a variety of media (sculpture, woodworking, photography, painting, fiber art, and printmaking to name just a few) and 100% of the proceeds from art sales will go to the Missouri Coalition for the Environment which presents this show. The Coalition works to protect and restore the natural world through education, public engagement, and legal action.
Margaret Hermes, curator of eARThworks 2012, discusses the intersection of art and nature: “Art evolved out of our relationship with the natural world and the work of each artist represents a personal connection to nature. Collectively, these works embody the artists’ shared sense of belonging to our earth and a commitment to its preservation and protection.”
