University City to Get Five New Police Cars

The University City City Council approved the expenditure Monday.

The University City City Council approved the purchase of five new patrol cars for the University City Police Department Monday.

The four marked and one unmarked vehicle will replace aging vehicles in the city's fleet. The total price for the cars is $105,175.

Councilman Michael Glickert noted during the meeting that he has seen city web site addresses on other municipalities' vehicles. He asked City Manager Lehman Walker if U City should do the same.

In other action, the council approved the following measures:

  • A motion for Kuhlmann Design Group to provide design and construction engineering services for the Westgate Ave. and Olive Blvd. intersection realignment and traffic signal project at a cost not to exceed $76,836.72 with a city match up to $15,367.34 and a federal match of $61,469.38.
  • A motion for Grove Design Group to provide design and construction services for a bicycle facilities improvement project not to exceed $28,900 with a city match up to $5,780 and a federal match of $23,120. 
  • A motion for Cochran to provide design and construction services for the Chamberlain Ave. bridge replacement project not to exceed $85,445.87 with a city match up to $17,089.18 and a federal match of $68,356.69. 
  • A motion for a sidewalk and curb replacement project to be awarded to SBC Contracting, Inc. for $87,825.
