Traffic Ahead: Highway Work on I-64 Downtown

Missouri and Illinois Departments of Transportation are doing work on both sides of the river this weekend.

Motorists traveling Interstate 64 downtown this weekend should be aware of work zones in Missouri and Illinois.

Two eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 between Jefferson Avenue and 11th Street will close for bridge painting Friday at 7 p.m. and should reopen Monday by 5 a.m.

Additionally, the 11th Street ramp will close Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., only. The ramp will be open the remainder of the weekend.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will also have lane and ramp closures on eastbound I-64 downtown this weekend.

The Illinois Department of Transportation will close I-64 from the I-55/70/64 split to IL Route 111 to remove bridges carrying 9th Street and 10th Street over I-64. All lanes will close at 9 p.m. Friday, and reopen by 5 a.m., Monday.

Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

  • I-70, St. Louis City, right lane on eastbound I-70 closed from St. Louis Avenue to Broadway until summer 2012.
  • I-70, St. Louis City, entrance ramp from 11th Street to eastbound I-70 closed until summer 2012.
  • Grand Blvd, St. Louis City, closed from I-64 to Chouteau by St. Louis City until mid 2012.
  • I-55, Jefferson County, starting at 8 p.m. Monday until November, crews will close the ramp from northbound I-55 to Route M
