Throw Out Your Old Furniture, Appliances

U City's bulk item collection began this week and runs through April 26. It's an easy way to get of unwanted items in your home--or salvage a potential treasure for reuse.

Did you already get your spring cleaning done? Rid your home of those unwanted large items through University City's spring bulk item collection.

Collection began in the city's central area this week, and will continue by section through April 26. Items must be placed by the curb the Sunday prior to your collection week, according to the city website. View the bulk item collection map to see when you can set your items out.

Residents may place up to three large items (furniture, cabinets, carpet, large appliances), or seven small items (doors, rugs, bedding, TV's and other small appliances), per household, according to the website. Hazardous items, yard waste and landscaping materials will not be accepted.

While the collection is a handy way to clean up, it's also a great way to find items that you can salvage or repurpose, according to ALIVE Magazine's Jenny Murphy. Read "Trash Talking" in ALIVE's April issue.
