Television Ad Wars: Clay Strikes First

Rep. William Lacy Clay beats Rep. Russ Carnahan to the airwaves with his first television ad.

On Tuesday, three weeks before the Democratic primary for Missouri's 1st District, incumbent Rep. William Lacy Clay released his first television ad.

Clay faces Rep. Russ Carnahan, 3rd District, in the Aug. 7 primary. Carnahan's district was eliminated during redistricting after the 2010 census and he now resides in the 1st District.

Clay's ad is titled "A Democrat with a Backbone."

In the ad, Clay cites his stance on Medicare, a woman's right to choose and other issues.

"More than ever we need Democrats with backbone," Clay said in the ad.

Lacy Clay, backbone? Laughing my you-know-what-off. No leadership is more like it. Emmanuel Cleaver heads the Black Caucus and has been office half as long as Clay. Not even riding daddy's coattails rose him to the top of anything.

Lacy Clay was the guy who hinted that the troops were raping each other in Iraq. At a February 2006 appearance at UMSL he said that female troops were getting dehydrated. Why you ask? Because they wouldn't drink after 3pm so they wouldn't to go to the bathroom at night from fear of getting raped by the other male soldiers. Yep he said it and I reported it to Crane Durham who had a midnight show at the time.

Not sure why you're making it sound like it's a bad thing he supports female soldiers who have been raped. It's true about women getting dehydrated. I remember reading articles about it. This is a quote from one of them: "I was less scared of the mortar rounds that came in every day than I was of the men who shared my food. I never would drink late in the day, even though it was so hot, because the Port-a-Johns were so far away it was dangerous. So I'd go for 16 hours in 140-degree heat and not drink. I just ate Skittles to keep my mouth from being too dry. I collapsed from dehydration so often I have IV track lines from all the times they had to re-hydrate me." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8005198.stm
