Television Ad Wars: Clay Strikes First

Rep. William Lacy Clay beats Rep. Russ Carnahan to the airwaves with his first television ad.

On Tuesday, three weeks before the Democratic primary for Missouri's 1st District, incumbent Rep. William Lacy Clay released his first television ad.

Clay faces Rep. Russ Carnahan, 3rd District, in the Aug. 7 primary. Carnahan's district was eliminated during redistricting after the 2010 census and he now resides in the 1st District.

Clay's ad is titled "A Democrat with a Backbone."
