Television Ad Wars: Carnahan Strikes Back

"Pay Day Clay" ad to start running on television.

One day after Rep. William Lacy Clay , Rep. Russ Carnahan released one of his own.

Clay and Carnahan, both incumbents, are facing off in the Aug. 7 Democratic primary. Carnahan's district was eliminated during redistricting after the 2010 census and he now resides in the 1st District.

Carnahan's ad is titled "PayDay Clay."

In the ad, Carnahan questions Clay's ties to payday lenders. “Lacy Clay has taken $80,000 from the payday loan and rent to loan industry, and tells them, ‘I will always do my best to protect what really matters to you.'” the ad said.
