Task Force Releases Report on Seniors, Youth

Mayor Shelley Welsch established this Task Force in October, 2010.

The Mayor's Task Force on Seniors and Youth, established in October 2010, has released its findings to the University City City Council. 

Mayor Shelley Welsch established the task force to insure that the  was focusing enough energy and funding on two important populations in the community — seniors and youth.

The task force was asked to survey each of its target groups to determine what is needed (in the way of services, supports, programs) by each group. Univesity City has a population of 35,371. Seniors represent 13.2 percent of the population and youth (0-19) are 16.4 percent of U City's total population.

The task force volunteers received more than 500 surveys from young people and almost 400 from seniors.
