Rick Santorum to Host Primary Night Party

Santorum will be at the St. Charles Convention Center for a primary night party tonight.

Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is planning to be back in St. Charles on Tuesday night for a primary night party, according his campaign website.

On Tuesday, Missouri voters will be able to signal their preference for presidential candidates in a Colorado and Minnesota will hold caucuses Feb. 7 and Santorum is expected to be in Colorado Springs, CO and Blaine, MN earlier Tuesday, according to his his schedule.

Santorum's party will be held at the  in the Grand Ballroom A and B at 9 p.m. The announcement was posted on his website Monday.

Joe Capitanelli, marketing manager for the Convention Center, said the event is open to the public. Doors will open around 6:30 p.m and tickets are not needed. Santorum is expected to arrive between 8:30 and 9 p.m.

The ballroom can fit about 400 people, said Capitanelli.

Last Monday, came out to St. Charles Community College to hear Santorum The auditorium had a capacity of 270 people, however, and some were left outside.

While some in attendance were pointedly supporters of Santorum, many came out just to learn more about the first Republican presidential candidate to visit St. Charles this year.

Anne Scherer, a longtime St. Charles resident, who attended the event Jan. 30, appreciates Santorum’s views on abortion.

“We don’t have many voices and he is one of them,” she said. “The more I hear from him the more I like him on a variety of issues.”

Santorum has lately spent more time in Missouri, visiting Columbia and Fulton on Friday.

He's scheduled to speak at a GOP Lincoln Days event in Cape Girardeau on March 10, according to the Southeast Missourian.
