Comments: A customer made a complaint to the St. Louis County Health Department that they suffered gastritis after consuming a wagyu burger meal (medium well burger and egg over easy). The compaintant was hospitalized with possible salmonella, according to the inspection report. Management told the inspector all burgers are cooked to the customer’s request.

The inspector observed an employee handling ready-to-eat foods with bare hands. Lettuce and hamburger buns were discarded. The inspector advised management on hand washing techniques and materials that can be used to handle food. No follow-up inspection is required, according to the report.

Fitz’s American Grill and Bottleworks, 6605 Delmar Blvd.
Inspection date: Jan. 25
Grade: A (100)
Comments: The Health Department received a complaint that the restaurant’s heat and hot water weren’t working. An inspector who visited the restaurants found that both heat and hot water were in working order.
