Patch Picks: Events and Happenings May 21-27

Here's what's happening in and near Ladue, Clayton and University City this week.

University City Patch teams up with neighboring Patch sites each week to round up events and happenings in the area. Here are our picks for this week.

Monday, May 21

  • If you’re a fan of classical music played by real musicians, you’re in for a treat on Monday. The Kingsbury Ensemble will present the six Suites of J.S. Back for solo violoncello, performed by Ken Kulosa. The concert will be played at in Ladue at 2:30 p.m. in three parts with two intermissions. Refreshments will be served.

  • Thinking of writing a novel? You might be interested in the Researching Your Novel class at the on Thursday at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations aren’t required, but they are recommended.
  • If you’re considering weight loss surgery, you will be interested to know that , located in Clayton, is holding a MyNewSelf Weight Loss Surgery Seminar on Friday at 6 p.m. You’ll meet the team from bariatric surgery center MyNewSelf and see a presentation on the procedures from Dr. J. Saturday, May 26

  • In University City, it’s time for . The community carnival is organized by local volunteers and fatrues carnival rides, food, games, music and more. The event is open to families throughout the metro area. For additional information, visit the Fair U City website.
  • The Clayton Farmers’ Market is open for business at Straub’s on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 
  • Area track teams will take part in the annual Class 3 and 4 state meet at the Dwight T. Reed Track on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City. First events begin at 11 a.m.
