Open House on U City Projects in Maryland Heights

The open house will be held from 4-7 p.m.

The has been approved for three transportation projects through the East-West Gateway Council of Governments’ Transportation Committee for the Fiscal Year 2012-2016 Transportation Improvement Program.

A public open house event will be held today from 4-7 p.m. for all proposed projects at the , 11911 Dorsett Ave.

Projects approved by the committee within University City involve Westgate Avenue; Canton Avenue, Old Bonhomme Road, and Jackson Avenue; and the Chamberlain Avenue Bridge.

The projects are:

  • A new traffic signal is slated to be installed at Westgate Ave. (at Olive) to allow the street to be converted back to two way traffic and provide the fire station on Westgate with easier access to Olive. 
  • Canton, Old Bonhomme and Jackson will be restriped to create bike lanes; these streets also will include new bike signs, and the sidewalks adjacent to the streets will be widened for ADA accessibility. 
  • The Chamberlain Avenue Bridge (over the River Des Peres Northeast Branch) will be completely replaced and also will include new sidewalks.
