Milling, Paving Work on Delmar Starts Today

St. Louis County plans to start work on Delmar Blvd today.

According to Public Relations Manager David Wrone of the St. Louis County Roads Department, the milling and paving on Delmar from Trinity Avenue and the statues all the way to Price Road gets underway today (June 17). 

St. Louis County returned the section of Delmar from the lions gates to the St. Louis City line to on July 1. 

"We will be grinding up two inches of pavement and laying down asphalt, moving from east to the west," said Wrone. The time frame depends upon the weather and what the contractor finds out there.

There will be lane reductions while the asphalt is being laid.

"As we say, our goal is to finish this in four weeks (by the week of August 13-17)," said Wrone. 

This is the final step in a $2.1 million project to completely rebuild Delmar including new curbs, guttering, sidewalks and pavement. It all dovetails with the new bridge that reopened at I-170 and Delmar earlier this year.

Drivers in University City and Ladue should watch the warning signs while driving through the area.
