Mayor Welsch to Join Mayor's Institute on City Design

Session will be held April 25-27.

University City Mayor Shelley Welsch was selected to participate in the Mayor’s Institute on City Design 53rd Session in St. Louis on April 25-27. Welsch was invited to participate in the session by St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay.

Only five mayors throughout the nation are participating in the St. Louis session.

The Mayor’s Institute on City Design session also will include participation by city design and development professionals from Washington, D.C., Ann Arbor, MI, Boston, Seattle, San Francisco and Philadelphia. The two-and-a-half day session involves case study scenarios presented by each mayor depicting urban design challenges unique to their city. Participants brainstorm and discuss creative solutions, offer suggestions and identify key design challenges for each city.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with mayors and design professionals from around the country to present some of the challenges we face along Olive Boulevard, and to get their insight and input on what we might do to take full economic advantage of this part of our City,” said Welsch. “It's really a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for the .”

More than 850 mayors have graduated from the Mayor’s Institute on City Design.
