Mayor Declares September 11, 2011 'Day of Service and Remembrance' in U City

University City Mayor Shelley Welsch has declared September 11th as a Day of Service and Remembrance for University City and its residents.

Sunday marks 10 years since the September 11th attacks.

To mark the somber anniversary, University City Mayor Shelley Welsch has issued an official Proclamation declaring Sunday -- the tenth anniversary of the attacks -- "a day of service and remembrance," for University City and its residents.

“This is an historic anniversary. As a city, we need to honor those we lost and loved on September 11,” said Mayor Welsch. “There were many heroic individuals who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks. By making this Proclamation, University City will officially mark this day, this anniversary, as a day of remembrance and a day of service.”

The City of University City will fly all flags at half-staff on September 11.
