Ethics Complaint Dismissed Against Councilmember Kraft

State Ethics Commission dismisses ethics complaint against Councilmember Stephen Kraft.

The Missouri Ethics Commission has dismissed an ethics complaint against Councilmember Stephen Kraft (First Ward).

The Commission reviewed the claims at a meeting last month and found no wrongdoing on Kraft's part.

University City resident Tom Sullivan filed the complaint in January against Kraft and Kraft's campaign for the city council Kraft for Council, alleging campaign finance violations.

In a letter dated April 13, 2011, Julie Allen, the executive director of the Missouri Ethics Commission wrote:

"From the facts presented, the Commission voted to dismiss this case as the allegations were unsubstantiated. The investigation did not show reasonable grounds for violation of Chapter 130, RSMo since Kraft for Council did properly file all campaign finance reports."

Councilmember Kraft responded to the dismissal in a post on his Kraft City Council website. He wrote "The dismissal by the Commission confirms the frivolous nature of the complaint."
