Delmar Loop Traffic, Parking Meeting Tonight

The city of University City is seeking input on parking and traffic flow in the Delmar Loop.

The City of University City would like public input on the traffic and parking concerns for the Delmar Loop Area.

The public's input is needed to determine what issues the city might want to study.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Heman Park Community Center.

I would make Delmar in the Loop entirely a pedestrian street and reroute traffic behind the Loop. Make it a lot nicer, cleaner, attract more business. Put in benches, etc. lots of cities have an area like that. Smart ones anyway. It gets too crowded, people and traffic.

gaen, are whatever your name, I agree a pedestrian mall would be better than the congestion that's there now, without the archaic concept of the trolley. My long held idea of a viadock over the loop has no chance of ever coming to fruition, but your's of a pedestrian mall should be considered.

Chicago had the State Street Mall in the late 70s-90s. It did not work. It may have been a reason for the demise/relocation of several flagship retail giants. The streetscape returned to multimodal sometime in the last 20 years. I am a bike and pedestrian advocate, but the automobiles do have a place in the "market"
