$26.3 Million Budget Before U City City Council

The University City City Council meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 10.

The University City City Council will vote on a $26.3 million budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year at its meeting tonight.

The council is slated to meet at 6:30 p.m. at University City City Hall.

The proposed budget includes estimated revenues at $26,615,000 and expenditures at $26,314,000. The projected fund balance for the 2012-13 year is approximately $15,000,000.

The budget includes the following components:

  • No reduction in City services
  • No increase in real estate taxes for residential property
  • A decrease in real estate taxes for commercial property
  • No sales tax increases
  • A 2 percent cost of living adjustment (COLA) for all city employees
  • An increase in funding for police operations
  • An increase in funding for fire operations
  • Funding for the third year of the Youth Summer Jobs Program
  • Increased funding for street, curb and sidewalk repairs
  • Funding to build a new police station or extensively renovate the existing one.

City Manager's Report

  • Center Drive reconstruction from Delmar to Teasdale. Staff recommends concrete option award to Concrete Design for $92,300.76.
  • Kaufman Park tennis courts improvements. Staff recommends award to sole bidder, McConnell’s of St. Louis, Inc for $38,925.
  • Automated side load refuse vehicle. Staff recommends award to Truck Component Services for $228,519.
  • Sidewalk and curb replacement project, Change Order No. 1. Staff recommends approval of change order to SBC Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $80,250.
  • Wheel loader, staff recommends award to Luby Equipment Services for $157,850.
Unfinished Business
  • Bill 9182 – An ordinance fixing the compensation to be paid to City officials and employees as enumerated herein from and after its passage, and repealing Ordinance No. 6879.
