Woman Reports Abduction Attempt at Wash U

The robbery and abduction attempt took place Tuesday night in a garage on the Danforth Campus.

A woman is reporting a robbery and abduction attempt Tuesday at . 

The 23-year-old female student reported being approached in the Snow Way garage at about 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Washington University sent out a crime alert to students Wednesday morning. Quoting from the alert:

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday night, a 23-year old student reports she was approached by a suspect as she entered her vehicle in the Snow Way Garage on the north side of Washington University’s Danforth Campus. 

The suspect told the victim he had a knife and demanded that she drive him to several bank locations in St. Louis to withdraw money from her ATM bank account. The suspect eventually got out of the victim’s vehicle at a location believed to be in the city of St. Louis and the victim then drove to her apartment also located in city of St. Louis. The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

Washington University Police were notified of the incident at about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. 

The suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s; approximately 6 feet in height; medium build; wearing a white or cream colored baseball cap with a dark bill and a New York Yankees insignia, white t-shirt, black pants, white tennis shoes, and carrying a dark colored t-shirt or other cloth around his neck. 

Police believe the suspect walked from Big Bend to campus. 

The Washington University Police Department is coordinating the investigation with assistance from the . 

The school will immediately be committing additional overtime patrols to the area, Washington University officials said in the alert.
