U City Police: Relative Suspected in Tool Theft

Each week, features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of July 1-7, 2013. 

The department arrested 54 adults and 10 juveniles. There was one report of stealing and five burglaries.

Saturday, June 29

  • The reporting parties stated person(s) unknown unlawfully entered the residence in the 7800 block of Milan Ave.  and stole several items and tools. The reporting party suspects a relative because a witness reported observing suspect at the residence on that date. Two suspects are being sought. 
Monday, July 1
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown forced entry through the front door of the apartment in the main corridor. The apartment is in the 700 block of Westgate Ave. Several items were taken. 
Tuesday, July 2 
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown unlawfully entered the victims' residence in the 500 block N. Central. This occurred over a 45 minute period; and no signs of forced entry. 
Wednesday, July 3
  • The reporting party stated he was walking when he was approached by a man, who asked to use his phone at Crest Ave. and Ferguson. The reporting party denied; but the suspect grabbed the cell phone and ran. An officer identified a possible suspect, who was identified by victim. A 33 was arrested and charged. 
Friday, July 5
  • Person(s) unknown broke the kitchen door glass and unlocked the door to gain entry to vacant residence in the 6800 block of Crest Ave. The basement and kitchen windows were also broken. The suspect(s) stole copper piping. 
Saturday, July 6
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown broke into his apartment in the 6800 block of Melrose while he was gone. A witness observed a male running from the residence. The description given by the witness matched the description of people officers are familiar with. A 20-year-old male was arrested. Two suspects are currently wanted for investigation.
