U City Man Indicted on Robbery at His Own Home

University City Police said Wesley Hughes agreed to meet a man at Hughes' home to sell him a gun and then robbed the man.

A St. Louis County grand jury indicted a University City man Wednesday on a first-degree robbery that took place at his own home.

University City Police said Wesley Hughes, 21, of the 1100 block of Backer Street in U City, arranged to meet another man Oct. 29 at Hughes’ home to sell the other man a handgun. When the man arrived, Hughes pulled out the handgun and robbed the victim of $122 and his cell phone.

The man then called police, who found Hughes with the man’s cell phone.

Hughes is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $50,000.
