U City Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer for Second Time in Six Months

Jorge Wallace also is accused of ramming a police car Jan. 21, leading police on a high-speed chase into University City.

A University City man was charged with assaulting a Maryland Heights police officer for the second time in six months.

Jorge Wallace, 26, of the 600 block of Geoffrey in University City, was charged with second-degree assault on an officer in Maryland Heights.

Wallace also is accused of ramming a Maryland Heights police car Jan. 21, and faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon. He also led police on a chase into University City, according to court documents.

Maryland Heights Police said an officer had curbed the vehicle in the 12300 block of Bennington Place after receiving information it may have been used in a burglary.

As the officer approached the car, Wallace accelerated and spun the wheel, turning the vehicle toward the officer, police said. The officer removed his weapon and pointed it at the vehicle and Wallace stopped, according to a court document.

Wallace is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $15,000.
