A witness spotted a man fleeing from a burglary scene on Croftdale Drive and began following the man in his car, police said.
The suspect ran and got into a car and then struck the witness’ vehicle, according to Florissant Police.
Dashon Ahmon White, 23, of the 1100 block of Watts Street in University City, was charged Saturday with attempted burglary.
White had been sentenced March 15 to six years in prison for a 2011 burglary in Florissant, along with one count of theft and three counts of receiving stolen property.
White served about 14 months in prison for the 2011 burglary. He was in jail beginning April 10, 2012 and was released from prison June 6, 2013. He was on parole for the burglary and theft charges.
Florissant Police said White used a screwdriver to pry open a door to a home in the 1900 block of Croftdale Drive. When the witness spotted him, White ran and got into black Chevrolet Impala.
When the witness followed in his car, White struck the vehicle, police said.
White is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $25,000.
