U City Lawyer Gets Five Years for Embezzling

Jonathan D. McKee stole over $495,000 between 2007 and 2011.

A lawyer was sentenced Monday for embezzling $495,000 from his clients.

Jonathan D. McKee, 53, pled guilty on March 21. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, McKee received a sentence Monday of five years in a federal prison.

McKee had an in University City. He admitted in his plea that on “many occasions” between 2007 and 2011, he kept over $495,000 in settlement money that should have gone to 87 clients, prosecutors said.

McKee was disbarred by both Missouri and Illinois in 2011.
