St. Louis Police Shoot Man in U City

Chase led from St. Louis to University City.

A police chase from the city of St. Louis to University City led to a man being shot in the ankle Thursday.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the incident started in St. Louis, and officers pursued a man to the 6800 block of Roberts Avenue in .

It wasn't immediately clear where the chase started or what triggered it. The spokeswoman told the Post-Dispatch that at least part of it was on foot.

The man pointed the rifle at officers at some point during the altercation, and was shot in the ankle. Police described the man's gun as looking like an "assault rifle."
