Several Buildings Broken Into on Cates, U City Police Report

The burglaries occurred July 31.

Each week, features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of July 29 - Aug. 4, 2013. 

The department arrested 65 adults and five juveniles. There were nine burglaries and two motor vehicle thefts.

July 30

  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown broke the window of the locked basement door in the 800 block of Eastgate. 
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown forced open the front door of the residence in the 7300 block of Wayne and stole several items.

July 31
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown entered the residence in the 6700 block of Crest via an unlocked kitchen window and stole several items.
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown shattered the window of the basement door of the apartment building in the 6400 block of Cates and stole a bike. 
  • The reporting party stated window of the basement door of the apartment building in the 6200 block of Cates had been forced and two bicycles that were stolen. 
August 2
  • The reporting party stated there was damage to the back door in the 7200 block of Cornell. The homeowner later reported that several items were stolen. 
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown attempted to gain entry into the residence in the 1100 block of Mona by kicking or pushing the kitchen door open. Entry was not gained. No items were missing.
  • Officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 1100 block of North and South. Officers were informed that the suspect(s) had fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and pursued suspects. The vehicle was involved in an accident at Skinker and Vernon, with the occupants attempting to flee.
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown shattered the front window of MD Pharmacy.
August 4
  • The reporting party stated person(s) unknown stole his truck from the 8600 block of Bonhomme. The reporting party stated he parked the vehicle at midnight.
