Second Man Charged in Cell Phone Robbery

The two men planned to steal an iPhone "from an Asian," the men told officers, according to a police report.

A second man has been charged in a robbery on the Delmar Loop in which two men forcibly stole a cell phone from a man.

The men told officers they planned to steal an iPhone “from an Asian,” according to a University City Police report.

Justin Shakespeare, 18, of the 600 block of Jefferson Street in St. Charles, was charged Nov. 21 with second-degree robbery. .

University City Police said Shakespeare and Lewis-Wilke approached the man, who was sitting at a table in the Ranoush Restaurant and Hookah Bar on Delmar Boulevard. One of them grabbed his cell phone, which was sitting on the table and they began to leave.

Police said the man followed Shakespeare and Lewis-Wilke and tried to grab the phone back. During the struggle, one of the men elbowed the victim and they got away with the phone.

When Shakespeare was arrested, he had the iPhone on him, police reported.

Shakespeare and Lewis-Wilke were being held in St. Louis County jail on Tuesday. Bail was set at $25,000 each.
