No Charges Filed in Heman Park Shooting

The incident occurred Saturday evening and a suspect was held and later released, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

No charges have been filed in a Saturday evening shooting in that left one teenager injured.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the released a suspect arrested shortly after the 7:45 p.m. shooting.  

The suspect was released Sunday, according to the report. The victim is a 17-year-old male who was shot once in the leg on the basketball courts at the park. He was in serious condition at a local hospital.

Based on the account of a witness, U City Police arrested an 18-year-old male on suspicion of first-degree assault.

University City Police Lt. Carl Coleman told the Post-Dispatch that police sought charges on Sunday but the prosecutors took the case under advisement. There was not enough evidence to get charges against the man, Coleman said, and he was released Sunday.
