A man is accused of dragging a motor scooter away from a University City home after being chased off once by a resident.
Kevyon Clemons, 21, of the 5400 block of Thrush Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Thursday with attempted first-degree robbery and first-degree tampering.
University City police said Clemons tried to drag the scooter away from the front of a residence in the 6300 block of Washington Avenue Sept. 28. When a resident confronted him, Clemons flashed a handgun, threatened to shoot and then fled. Clemons later told police he had a bb gun.
Police said Clemons returned to the residence between 4:25 a.m. and 9:21 a.m. Oct 2 and dragged the scooter to another location in the 500 block of Westgate Avenue. Clemons told police the back wheel was locked. Later, he came and tried to kick start the scooter, but a witness spotted him.
Clemons is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $15,000.
