Man Punched Woman, Tried to Grab Her Cell Phone in Robbery Attempt, Police Say

Dwayne Malik Davis is charged with second-degree attempted robbery.

A 17-year-old St. Louis man is accused of punching a woman in the face and trying to steal her Samsung Galaxy cell phone June 19 in University City.

Dwayne Malik Davis, 17, of the 5800 block of Bartmer Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Friday with attempted second-degree robbery.

University City Police said Davis tried to forcibly steal a woman’s cell phone by punching her in the face and trying to grab the phone from her hands in the 700 block of Eastgate Avenue. The area is near Washington University.

Davis is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bail was set at $75,000.
