Man Flashed Stolen Gun in Eastgate Park, Police Say

University City Police said Timothy K. Brison fled from officers on Wednesday and threw the handgun away during a chase. Officers said they found the weapon after catching Brison.

A University City man faces several criminal charges after flashing a handgun in Eastgate Park, police said.

University City Police said an officer, who was responding to a call that a man flourished a firearm on Monday, spotted Timothy K. Brison, who fit the description of the man for whom he was looking.

When the officer approached Brison, he began running away, police said. The officer chased him into the 700 block of Rosedale Avenue. Another officer reported that he saw Brison throw away a weapon.

After officers caught Brison, they retrieved the firearm, which had been reported stolen, according to a court document. Brison told police he bought the gun on the street, according to a court document.

Brison, 44, of the 8300 block of Elmore in University City, was charged Friday with unlawful use of a weapon, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.

Brison posted 10 percent of a $5,000 cash bond and was released from St. Louis County jail Friday.
