Man Faces Meat-Stealing Charge for Second Time in U City

Police said the man had recently been released from St. Louis County jail after serving a one-year sentence, also for stealing meat.

A University City man faces criminal charges after police said he tried to steal porterhouse steaks from Pete’s Shur-Sav.

Donald Harrison, of the 6800 block of Bartmer Avenue in U City, was charged Nov. 9 with stealing as a third offense.

University City Police said Bartmer put two packages of porterhouse steaks down his pants. He removed the steaks when an employee confronted him, but he refused to go to the office with the employee, police said.

Police said he had been released recently from St. Louis County jail after serving a one-year sentence for stealing meat from another University City store. He also had four additional third-degree stealing convictions in St. Louis County Circuit Court from 2005 through 2008.

Harrison is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $5,000.
