Dogs Foil Burglary Attempt on Midland by Alerting Homeowners, Police Say
University City Police said a K-9 unit tracked Bryan Desean Hood from the burglary scene to his home nearby.
A University City man burglarized a neighbor’s home in the early in the morning Thursday, police said.
Bryan Desean Hood, 26, of the 1300 block of Midland Boulevard in University City, was charged Thursday with first-degree burglary.
University City police said a neighbor called 911 to report she had been awakened by a barking dog at about 4:20 a.m. Wednesday. The neighbor told police she saw an unknown man leaving her neighbor’s house on Midland Boulevard.

The victim also was awakened because his dog was growling, and he discovered an unlocked door had bee propped open, but nothing was stolen.
A K-9 unit tracked from the victim’s home to Hood’s home about a block away, where Hood was sitting on his porch, police said.

The witness identified Hood as the man she saw leaving her neighbor’s home, police said.
Hood is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center. Bond was set at $50,000.
