Day Care Worker Had Sexual Contact With 5-Year-Old, Police Say

The contact took place five years ago at a University City day care, according to University City Police.

A former day care worker faces criminal charges for subjecting a 5-year-old child to sexual contact, University City Police said.

Carmen Hunter, 53, of the 4900 block of Lindenwood Avenue in St. Louis, was charged Wednesday with first-degree child molestation.

University City Police said Hunter was a teacher’s assistant at King’s Day Care Center and between June 5, 2006 and Aug. 31, 2006, she subjected a 5-year-old child to sexual contact. The contact took place in a restroom, according to a report.

The day care is at 848 Kingsland Ave.

Hunter confessed to the contact, according to police.

She is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
