Burglars Attempt to Break Into Homes on Kingsbury, Birchmont, Chamberlain

Each week, features a look at reports from the University City Police Department. Here is a look at the blotter from the week of Sept. 9-15, 2013. 

The department arrested 51 adults and four juveniles. There were six burglaries, one motor vehicle theft and three robberies.

Monday, Sept. 9

  • Suspect asked to use the victim's cell phone in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania; the suspect grabbed the phone and ran. 
  • Suspect(s) broke window and entered the victim's apartment in the 900 block of McKnight and stole several items. 
Tuesday, Sept. 10
  • Suspect attempted robbery of MD Pharmacy. After a verbal confrontation, the suspect left the Pharmacy and fled. 
Wednesday, Sept. 11
  • Officers discovered the porch window of the residence in the 6800 block of Chamberlain was open and the screen had been opened. The victims stated that no items were stolen. 
Thursday, Sept. 12
  • Suspect entered the residence in the 6800 block of Kingsbury via an unlocked back door and stole keys.
  • Victim stated his friend used a key to entry to his residence in the 8000 block of Hafner and stole several items. 
Friday, Sept. 13
  • Suspect(s) attempted to gain entry into the victim's residence in the 7800 block of Birchmont by attempting to force window off its tracks. Entry was not gained, and nothing was missing.
Saturday, Sept. 14
  • Victim caught suspect cutting the exterior window screen in the 800 block of Leland with a screwdriver. The suspect ran.
  • Suspect attempted to forcibly steal victim's purse in the 700 block of Eastgate; but purse was not stolen. 
Sunday, Sept. 15
  • Suspect attempted to steal scooter in the 7100 block of Tulane. Suspect stated he thought it was being discarded, unloaded it from his vehicle and left.
