Bacon-Frying Burglar Pleads Guilty to U City Crimes

The man, who was charged with burglarizing homes in University City, was sentenced to seven years behind bars.

A man who was caught frying bacon in one of the University City homes he burglarized pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

According to KSDK, Damon Petty, 37, Ferguson, admitted his part in the crimes before Judge David Lee Vincent in St. Louis County Circuit Court this week and was immediately sentenced to concurrent seven-year terms.

In September of 2011, a resident of the 6600 block of Crest found Petty inside her home. The resident told KMOV that Petty was frying bacon in her kitchen.

Petty was indicted in May for burglary and stealing a microwave in connection with the crime on Crest.

University City Police later linked Petty to a Sept. 19, 2011 burglary in U City.
