2014 Trial Set in Lawsuit Claiming Child Was Decapitated During Delivery

Attorneys met with Circuit Court Judge Barbara Wallace concerning a motion to quash deposition of two doctors involved in the delivery.

A 2014 trial date was set in a Florissant couple’s lawsuit against a Creve Coeur OBGYN practice. The lawsuit claims the couple's child was decapitated during delivery on March 22, 2011.

The couple, Arteisha Betts and Travis Ammonette, is suing Midwest Maternal & Fetal Medicine Services, LLC, Signature Medical Group Inc., both in Creve Coeur, as well as Dr. Gilbert Webb and Dr. Susan D. Moore.

The lawsuit indicates the doctors involved in the delivery coerced Betts and Ammonette into a vaginal delivery when Moore advised the couple that a Cesarean section was necessary due to the child’s "accelerated abdominal circumference."

During the delivery at Mercy Hospital St. Louis, the complaint states, "Webb separated decedent Kaden Travis Ammonette's head from his cervical spine."

Attorneys for both sides met with Circuit Court Judge Barbara Wallace Wednesday to go over a motion to postpone deposing Webb and Moore. The depositions had been set for mid-December.

A decision on the motion was not available Wednesday.

The motion filed by defense attorney Kim Roger Luther argued that postponing the deposition would not delay the trial, and that it involves confidential medical information.
