September 11: Where We Were and Where We Are Now

There aren't many dates in memory where you can say "I know exactly where I was at that exact moment." Sept. 11, 2001 is one of those days.

I was in during my senior year of college. For me personally, it's always interesting to hear other people's tales of the day because I have an outsider's view—an American abroad for one of the biggest days in American history. 

Watching Jack Buck read his poem from Busch Stadium always brings me back to that day. Hearing it online from London made me feel very close to home, even though I was so far away.

On this 11th anniversary, it was nice to look back at the great coverage Patch did for the 10th anniversary.

Earlier today we ran a talking about their 9/11 experience. 

Last year, former editor Myra Lopez covered the transformation of Art Hill in Forest Park to a sea of red, white and blue flags.

Nearly 3,000 American flags dotted the hill in remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Each flag pole beared the name of a person killed on 9/11 and some of the poles included a photo.
