Services for Richard Dockett will be held Friday.
As first reported by Patch, Richard Dockett, an advocate for the citizens of University City and the children in the School District of University City passed away June 14, 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Gideon MB Church, 6505 Etzel Avenue. A gathering will immediately follow the service at the University City Community Center, 975 Pennsylvania.

Dockett was a tireless advocate for the people of University City. Mayor Shelley Welsch named Jan. 19, 2013, Richard Dockett Day in University City. The School District named the gymnasium for Dockett in a celebration May 17.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Dockett is survived by wife Wilma Dockett. He is also survived by a daughter, Pamela Dockett, of St. Louis; two sons, Kymal Dockett, of St. Louis, and Kymo Dockett of Washington; and a grandson, Octavian Dockett.
