During Labor Day weekend The Loop hosted the first annual sidewalk chalk art festival, Get Your Chalk On! with over 150 artists that participated. The event attracted artists from all over the Midwest region, and some participants came from as far as Alabama to be part of the festivities.

Beginning at 9am on Saturday morning, artists began lining up for registration by the Chuck Berry Statue to receive their complimentary box of chalk and location of where to begin their sidewalk chalk masterpiece.

Blick Art Materials, located at 6300 Delmar Blvd, sponsored the event and provided an extremely generous donation of over $5,000 of chalk to all of the artists.
