What Is a Person/Family To Do?

Congratulations to the Susan Komen Foundation for their success on Saturday. It will certainly help to win the battle against CANCER!

Congratulations to the Komen Foundation and a, heartfelt, salute to the participants! This past Saturdays turnout shows the wonderfulness of America. I just returned from visiting a friend, a much respected leader in U. City Richard Dockett, who is dying of cancer. This visit made me pause, because I guess when you are diagnosed with cancer your death is more eminent than not. I know from the time you are born you are dying but some diseases mandate this more than others and cancer is one of these.

With all of the messages we are being bombarded with, from morning to night, about Siteman Cancer Hospital, Cancer Centers of America, and all the other local hospitals, how do you make the right decision on where to get treatment? As a patient or family member you want the best that will prolong life and get the cancer in remission. What are we to use as a guide for the most beneficial treatment, all of these facilities, certainly, have Board Certified Oncologists and qualified ancillary personnel. Breakthroughs are being made everyday it seems, and we certainly want to be a recipient of these, if only we are in the right place at the right time.

The front page of Sunday's St Louis Post 6/23/2012 pointed out how family members agonize over making decisions on every decision, one can understand the difficulty of deciding where to go for the best treatment. If we get a chance, (not being killed outright in an accident or murdered) decisions will have to be made, it would be nice if everything were Equal! Continued success to Richard and all others battling Cancer and their families.
