Finally, A Contested Board of Education Election.

Hopefully, our contested school board election, signals a continued rebound for our district

After several years of citizens signing up for Board of Education seats and walking on in, we now have a contested election. This apathy regarding one of our most important civic responsibilities, has cast a negative reflection on our city. I am not being dismissive of our current board they are doing a yeoman's job, under difficult conditions. Citizens need to hear different positions in order to judge who they should vote for.

Our school district is finally making strides forward, with the hiring of some very good people. As one of our candidates stated "we must move faster", and I am sure most of us agree. Missouri is not doing that well educationally, nor our country versus the other industrialized ones. I have written about this before and maybe this renewed interest by our own citizens can help us all!
