Demonstrated Love

Pride in ourselves and others, offers quality to our lives.

Sunday was an exciting day in Heman Park for me, when I had a chance to witness men and women, show off their works of LOVE. The Hot Rod display was awesome and demonstrated to me how human beings can have pride in working to restore and preserve. It was quite remarkable to view these beautiful restorations and the pride of the participants. All of us need to achieve something, be it small or large to the world. These achievements make life bearable and pleasurable.

What I saw gave me a sense of pride in the strength and character of the participants and what the day was, ultimately, about the VETERANS. Veterans that feel proud to have sacrificed and those who have paid the ultimate price. I know most still feel the pride, even though wounded mentally and physically and as pointed out in Sunday's St. Louis Post Dispatch, in spite of long waiting lists to get the benefits promised them. We celebrate Memorial Day but we need to make sure the veterans are rapidly getting the help and benefits that were promised.

I know we all have our own problems, but these young men and women volunteered to save our way of living and our ability to savor our pride in what we do. Living in this country comes with responsibility to others, and our veterans deserve the best we can give!
